For fans of AKB48 and Pro-Wrestling, the dream has come true at last!
The largest Idol group in Japan and the world, AKB48, has announced earlier today during their handshake session that the group will finally have their first pro-wrestling event. A bonus event to their current pro-wrestling drama “Tofu Pro Wrestling”, the same casts will be participating in the World Idol Pro Wrestling event that will be held at the Korakuen Hall on 29th August this year.
HKT48 & STU48 concurrent member, Rino Sashihara, created history in the AKB48 Group after retaining the #1 spot for AKB48’s Senbatsu Sousenkyo for the third consecutive time (4 titles in total) in the announcement event that happened yesterday with 246,376 votes.

However, not all fans were not talking about Rino Sashihara yesterday.
Earlier today, AKS has announced that “AKB48’s 49th Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo” has been cancelled due to the weather forecast for tomorrow’s major event. The “Senbatsu Sousenkyo” is an elections event where AKB48 fans will be voting for their main lead or “center position” for their 49th single.

As we start into a new year, we take a look back at Japan’s single sales of 2016. As usual, AKB48 dominates the top once again with “Tsubasa Wa Iranai” topping the charts with 1.5 million copies sold. It received a high number of sales as the single contains voting tickets for their 45th Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo (General Elections) held in the middle of the year in which Sashihara Rino became center with a record of nearly 250,000 votes.
